At Asian Heart Institute, we have a policy of using only fresh blood for any procedure, including Heart Surgery. To ensure the safety of our patients, we advise that you organise donors of the same blood group as the patient to provide the needed blood. These donors should come to the hospital one day prior to the surgery for donation. We do not advise using blood relatives as donors for the patient, as there is a serious risk of adverse reactions. Therefore, we recommend finding volunteer donors outside of the patient’s immediate family.

Availability of Blood: Our hospital Blood Bank ensures that blood and blood products are readily available for patients who require transfusions due to medical conditions or surgical procedures. This helps save lives and improves patient outcomes.

Safe and Compatible Blood: Our hospital Blood Bank performs strict testing and screening of all donated blood to ensure that it is safe and compatible for transfusion. This minimises the risk of adverse reactions and complications during and after the transfusion.

Timely Blood Transfusion Having a hospital Blood Bank allows for timely access to blood and blood products when needed. This is especially important in emergency situations where time is of the essence.

Charges: Blood and blood components are charged as per the guidelines specified by the National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) and the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC).
