The future of healthcare is not in nice interiors but in higher standards of patient care.Dr. Ramakanta Panda had a fascinating journey to becoming a heart surgeon. Coming from a village in Orissa, Inspired by his family and a cover feature about Dr. Denton A. Cooley, he studied at BJD College and SCV Medical College, Orissa, India before pursuing and topping the post-graduation at AIIMS in New Delhi. Seeking further training and international exposure, he passed the USMLE exams and secured a position at the renowned Cleveland Clinic, USA where his experience fuelled his determination to return to India and establish a hospital with similar standards. After a testing and tough journey, despite lacking sufficient funds and being allotted a land which was unsuitable for construction, he eventually found the location for his dream hospital at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. While planning the construction, Dr Panda took his team of architects and interior designers to the US to see modern hospital designs and placed a strict emphasis on quality protocols. Through determination, resourcefulness, and a relentless pursuit of his dream, he overcame challenges, transformed a challenging plot of land into a state-of-the-art hospital, and assembled a team of dedicated professionals. His inspiring journey serves as a reminder that with passion and perseverance, one can turn obstacles into opportunities and make a lasting impact in the world.
