ECG & Holter Test in Mumbai at AHI

An ECG is a quick and painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart in a short period of time, usually around 10-15 seconds. It involves placing electrodes on the chest, arms, and legs, which detect the electrical signals generated by the heart. The data is then used to create a graph called an Electrocardiogram, which can help doctors diagnose various heart conditions, including Arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac problems.

Holter test is a more prolonged test that records the heart’s electrical activity over a longer period of time, usually 24 to 48 hours. The data collected is then analysed to identify any abnormal heart rhythms or other cardiac problems that may be present.

How to Prepare for this Diagnostic & Imaging Procedure

Patients should wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to their chest area for electrode placement. They should inform their doctor of any medications they are taking, including over-the-counter medications and supplements. Our technicians will guide patients so that they can remain relaxed while being tested. Stress and anxiety can affect ECG results, so it is important to stay calm during this procedure.

Inform the front desk staff seated on the ground floor and visit the ECHO department for the test. It is important to carry previous medical reports and the doctor’s prescription.

Typically, it takes 10–15 minutes to complete both procedures. For the ECG, the patient is guided to lie down on the examination bed. The technician will attach the electrodes to the hands and legs and take the ECG. For Holter, the technician will attach the leads over the chest area, and a machine strapped around the waist will record the heart’s electrical activity. Depending on the requirements, the Holter is kept for 24-48 hours, or if required, 3–7 days as per your doctors’ advice. The technician will educate you on the usage of the machine and how to change the batteries, if needed.

No, they cannot.
